Sophie reflects on her accomplishments to date at the firm and what she has found particularly rewarding.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments to date at the Firm?
When Boodle Hatfield moved to Bankside, in 2014, I was really keen to start an initiative to embed Boodle Hatfield in the community. Following a number of conversations and plenty of research, we decided to support a local school with a reading programme.  Six years later, and every Monday and Tuesday a number of Boodle Hatfield employees hear students at a local school read. The initiative is really welcomed by the school and provides children, who primarily do not speak English as their first language, an opportunity to develop their reading skills and ask pertinent questions from an interested adult.

What are the most enjoyable and rewarding aspects of your job?
As a real estate lawyer, I cover acquisitions, disposals, development, the real estate aspects of property finance transactions, option agreements and lettings and work with clients from a variety of sectors, making my working day incredibly varied. The nature of the job means that I am often found on calls or in zoom meetings; the opportunity to discuss a transaction with the principals or their close advisors brings that transaction to life and is one of the most enjoyable parts of the job. Similarly, the size of the firm makes it possible to work closely with colleagues across the disciplines both furthering my own knowledge and developing my working relationships with colleagues. Another aspect of the job that is particularly rewarding, is developing interests and specialisms in new emerging fields, in my case these are senior living, vertiports and 5G.

How would you describe the firm in three words?
Sociable, Driven and Caring

What has been the highlight of your career to date?
In 2019, I was shortlisted for the British Property Federation’s Futures Community Engagement Award. The ceremony was held in the House of Lords. It is was incredible event to be invited to and one I will remember for many years to come.

Sophie is a Senior Associate in the Real Estate team and trained at the firm, qualifying in 2013. Sophie’s accomplishments at the firm are not only limited to the exceptional work she does for her clients but also the outstanding work she does for the local community. Sophie was shortlisted in the BPF Futures Community Engagement Award in 2019 and invited to a reception at the House of Commons in recognition of all the excellent work she has done for the community.
