60 seconds with Andrea Zavos

Head of the Private Client & Tax, Andrea Zavos, talks to STEP about what it means to have won a STEP Private Client Award in 2021.

What is your role within your firm?

I am head of Private Client and Tax and a contentious trust lawyer in that team.

How did it feel to win a STEP Private Client Award?

We were delighted and consider it a real accolade for the team and a well deserved one.

Why is winning a STEP Private Client Award important to your firm?

It is a real mark of quality to have been selected by our peers and competitors for the most respected award in our industry.

What are the main challenges facing your organisation/practitioners at the moment?

Other than COVID-19, cybersecurity, keeping up to speed with the continually changing alternative investment options such as Crypto and NFTs and the ever-increasing global transparency.

How will you deal with these challenges?

By always putting our client’s needs first and ensuring we are able to give them first-rate, nuanced and tailored advice, continuing to work collaboratively with their teams of advisers.

What do you like best about your job?

No day is ever the same, working with a diverse mix of challenging and demanding clients within an increasingly highly regulated global market.

… and what do you feel is most worthwhile?

Finding a solution to a client’s issue and agreeing and executing a strategy that meets that client’s needs on time and on budget.

What would you say to a young person thinking of a career in this industry?

It remains a fantastic opportunity for ambitious and intellectually engaged young people with a large dose of humanity at its core.
