Andrew Loan, Clare Stirzaker, Kyra Motley, James Woods-Davison and Annabella King collected the two awards at the STEP ceremony on 21 September at London Hilton on Park Lane, where the firm was shortlisted for ‘Family Business Advisory Practice of the Year’; ‘International Legal Team of the Year (midsize firm)’ and ‘Private Client Legal Team of the Year (midsize firm)’.
Both categories were made up of a strong set of finalists, with Boodle Hatfield shortlisted alongside Appleby, Kobre & Kim, Lenz & Staehelin and Russell Cooke for its international work and Cindy Radu Advisory, Crysalia, Forsters and Wingspan Legacy Partners for the Family Business advisory practice.
The judging panel noted that “Boodle Hatfield is advising on very compelling new topics and handles its cases with sensitivity and agility. Its cross-departmental family business team meets regularly to exchange learning and its client approach is structured to suit generational engagement, working closely with junior generations to ensure smooth succession” going on to say that the firm “clearly showcased the range of jurisdictions they are involved in, providing examples to demonstrate that their multi-jurisdictional practice is of a very high standard. They have proven themselves as a one-stop shop for international clients. Several judges highlighted that their expertise in the Middle East is comprised of an all-female team that is trusted by many ultra-high-net-worth clients and families.”
STEP is the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations and the awards are seen as the hallmark of quality within the private client sector, recognising and celebrating excellence among private client lawyers, accountants, barristers, bankers, trust managers and financial advisers. Now in its 18th year, the awards saw a record number of nominations, with 343 submissions received across 29 countries.
For the last seven years we have had continued success at the annual STEP awards, where the firm have been named winners in at least one category every year and most recently named ‘International Legal Team of the Year’ in 2022.
