In a recent article for WealthBriefing, Partner and Head of Immigration, Zoe Jacob, highlighted a notable shift in migration patterns, with a growing number of high net worth US citizens exploring opportunities in the UK.
Zoe pointed to a significant rise in demand, explaining: “A few years ago, I would have had one or two Americans on my books at any one time… now, 40 per cent of clients on my books are American. That is pretty significant,” underscoring the scale of the increase in interest. She added, “It is coming up in conversations. Some clients are thinking of only spending up to four years in the UK; others are looking at being here for longer,” reflecting the varying intentions among US clients, from short term stays to longer term relocation.
She also noted the role advisors are playing in guiding decision making, commenting: “We have tried to make our clients aware of what the options are in the UK and other [firms] in our sphere have done the same,” highlighting the importance of proactive advice as individuals assess their relocation options.
Zoe further observed the growing sophistication of the UK’s offering for this demographic, concluding that “the London market has become very sophisticated in serving Americans. There are many more Americans in London now.”
Her comments underline a broader trend of increased US interest in the UK, driven by a combination of lifestyle considerations, political factors, and evolving tax frameworks, while also reinforcing London’s continued appeal as a destination for internationally mobile wealth.
