Fred is a corporate and commercial specialist who advises businesses on a full range of advisory and transactional matters. He is also a well-regarded practitioner in the Arts and Culture sector.

He routinely advises companies, entrepreneurs and HNW owners on their various business arrangements in a range of sectors, with a focus on privately owned businesses.

In the business services sector, Fred is a transactional lawyer who regularly advises on M&A, debt and equity finance, shareholder and Board governance issues and other advisory matters. He works with clients to negotiate the full range of commercial agreements. His clients are generally, but not exclusively, privately funded ventures.

In the Arts and Culture sector, Fred is experienced at advising clients on contractual, advisory and strategic matters. His clients are from across the art and classic car markets and include high profile private collectors, international museums, leading dealers, artists and well-established third-party intermediaries and advisors. He understands the intricacies of underlying assets and their markets and has advised on many high value transactions. He is also knowledgeable about collecting and museum best practice.

Fred also has experience advising clients on data protection and data privacy matters, following the adoption of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK’s GDPR. He advises clients on their compliance with data protection and marketing rules. He is also knowledgeable about intellectual property matters.

Fred is an author of the Firm’s dedicated art law blog, Art Law & More and a member of the digital assets team – a cross departmental specialist group who advise on everything from cryptocurrency to digital artwork and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Alongside his client work, Fred is on the advisory board of the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair. He is also a Trustee Director of the De Morgan Foundation, a charity that was established in 1967 and which owns and exhibits an unparalleled collection of artwork by the late 19th and early 20th century artists William and Evelyn De Morgan.
