Coronavirus: our approach

Like most of us at this time, Boodle Hatfield has been monitoring the local and global Coronavirus outbreak and we are taking appropriate action to protect our Partners and Staff and ensure continuity of service for Clients.

Here we set out Boodle Hatfield's approach to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak as well as relevant details of our pandemic and business continuity planning. We hope it gives some reassurance that you will be able to continue working with us without interruption and that we are well prepared as a business to continue to support you.

Public Health England advice

Boodle Hatfield has a team monitoring the official advice issued by Public Health England and the government bodies on a daily basis. We are following all advice issued and ensuring all Partners and Staff understand the crucial role everyone will play in protecting against the spread of the virus, both inside and outside the office.

Business continuity

Boodle Hatfield is committed to ensuring continuity of service for Clients in the event of any disaster or business continuity event. Our Business Continuity Team meets regularly and we plan for a variety of scenarios, including a pandemic threat. We recently tested and revised our plans with an external consultant using potential risks and threats as a guide. This is helping us with our business planning at this time. Our Business Continuity plan ensures that we are able to operate effectively and provide our clients with the service they require even if the teams are required to work from home. Our BCP ‘work from home’ model was successfully tested on the weekend of 6th March 2020, and all Partners and staff are able to log in and use our communications and IT systems remotely.

Actions taken

Monitoring Partners and Staff personal travel

The firm is following Public Health England and FCO advice in relation to travel, particularly to and from Category 1 and 2 countries. We are monitoring the travel plans of all Partners and staff and everyone is required to confirm with Human Resources before their return to check if they need to self-isolate or call 111 according to the guidance at the time.

Partners and Staff business travel

We are limiting all non-essential business travel. There should not be any visits to Category 1 and 2 countries and there is an escalation procedure should someone feel that other business travel is essential and a decision will be made by senior management as to whether the travel should go ahead and any self-isolation necessary.

External visitors

For the time being Partners and Staff have been advised to think carefully about whether face to face client and external contact meetings with anyone who has travelled through Category 1 and 2 areas is essential and should consider carefully whether alternative methods of communication e.g. telephone/video conference/Skype etc. would suffice. We hope this will protect both our personnel and our clients and contacts.

Soap and Anti-bacterial supplies

Anti-bacterial gel and wipes are available in our meeting rooms and communal areas throughout the office and communal areas.

Next steps

Boodle Hatfield will continue to monitor the Coronavirus situation on an ongoing basis and provide updates as required. Our Business Continuity Team will meet regularly throughout the Coronavirus threat to discuss the current situation and agree appropriate next steps. Our prime focus is to ensure that we balance the health of our staff and visitors with maintaining our usual client service.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any specific questions regarding the above.
