International Women’s Day 2023

Boodle Hatfield is delighted to rejoice International Women’s Day – a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

As a firm, we have long been a pioneer of gender equality and committed to maintaining a working environment in which all people can excel. Our inclusive and supportive culture is directed by Senior Partner, Sara Maccallum and in May 2023, will be succeeded by the firm’s second female Senior Partner, Andrea Zavos. Today, the firm is currently made up of 38 partners and 65 fee earners, of which 60% of those are female lawyers and 53% of our equity partners are women. Across the business, we are proud to have a significant number of inspiring female mentors and role models.

Last year saw the firm celebrate its 300th anniversary – a significant milestone that gave us an opportunity to reflect on how we could continue to shape our services to benefit future generations, clients, and communities across the world. The law and world around us has seen momentous advancements during the firms existence, but it is vital that we continue to guide and develop the next generation, all of whom will drive legacies and change forward.

This year, the global day of celebration reinforces the need to #EmbraceEquity, with an aim to get the world talking about how equal opportunities aren’t enough. It highlights that people start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.

What does Equity mean at Boodle Hatfield?

To mark International Women’s Day this year and highlight the importance of the #EmbraceEquity theme, we spoke to a handful of staff and Partners from across the business to reflect on their experiences in the industry and how, together, we can forge an equitable and inclusive world.
