Celebrating our fifth year of partnership with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair

This week we hosted our annual Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prizegiving evening. Celebrating our fifth year of partnership with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, we once again invited a group of incredibly talented artists, shortlisted at last year's Print Fair, to join us at our offices to showcase their selected artworks.
Joined by clients and contacts across the art world, we heard from each of the nine artists, including Tsz-Ki Cheung who had kindly recorded a video for us all the way from Hong Kong, about their different routes into printmaking and the many different techniques they use within this field to create their pieces.
The inspiration behind the shortlisted prints was incredibly varied - from “the whirlwind experience of motherhood” to capturing the subtle messages we convey with body language and hand gestures. One point that many of the artists had in common, however, was their gratitude to the art of printmaking for providing them with a creative outlet and a sense of escape, as well as a uniting passion for sustainability in their practices, ensuring they are increasingly using environmentally-friendly techniques and materials.
As always, it was a difficult decision for our judges, Simon Fitzpatrick, Head of Litigation and Art Law at Boodle Hatfield, and Fred Clark, Senior Associate in our Corporate & Commercial team and member of the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair advisory board, but they did eventually decide upon a winner.
Our winning artist for the 2025 Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize is Glaswegian artist, Alistair Gow, who shortlisted his print Late Tree Stop, 2022 - a piece which focuses on a tree he passes each day whilst taking his daughter to nursery. Congratulations to Alistair, who, by winning the prize, now has the opportunity to showcase his own booth at the 2025 edition of Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
We’d like to thank all the artists who took part this year and we look forward to seeing where your talent takes you next. This year's shortlisted artists and prints were:
- Alistair Gow – Last Tree Stop, 2022
