Ace in Motion – HERO-ERA Charity Classic Car Fundraiser for ACE-SMA

We were delighted to attend and support a one day charitable classic car rally organised by our client, HERO-ERA (Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation and Endurance Rally Association) which raised a brilliant £30,000 for ACE SMA (Awareness Cure Exercise - Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare neuromuscular condition that affects approximately 70 babies born in the UK a year).

The ACE In Motion event took place on 2 July, starting and finishing at HERO-ERA's HQ at Bicester Heritage, just outside Oxford. The 100 mile rally included a visit to the Williams F1 Heritage Experience as well as a few laps of the Bicester airfield track to finish.

The funds raised will be used by ACE-SMA for clinical trials and further research into the condition led by Professor Laurent Servais, Professor of Paediatric Neuromuscular Diseases at MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre Department of Paediatrics, University of Oxford.

There were 38 crews taking place, with the oldest car being a Peugeot from 1904 right up to a 2016 Porsche GT3. Fred Clark, who regularly advises clients on matters involving classic cars, drove a beautiful racing green 1966 Triumph TR4A from the 'Arrive and Drive' fleet (pictured below under the HERO-ERA arch at the start line). The Arrive and Drive fleet allows those who, like Fred, do not own a classic car to access the exciting world of classic car rallying.

Congratulations to all involved. For more information, including a video, please see the official review here.
