International tax and offshore trusts
We act for many people domiciled or resident outside the UK. They may have assets in more than one jurisdiction and we are experienced in setting up effective international structures to hold these assets. We advise on the creation, administration and termination of offshore trusts including the selection of the appropriate jurisdiction. We also analyse the possibilities for (and limitations of) so called "asset protection" trusts and the protection of assets internationally from political risk.
Domicile and residence
We offer expert advice on issues of domicile, residence and immigration law and procedure generally. Where appropriate, we can draw on the expertise of immigration lawyers to handle any work permit/visa-related issues for non-UK residents.
Wealth Management and Tax planning
We advise international clients on the best way to structure their assets to preserve wealth and maximise the tax efficiency of their arrangements.
Wills, probate and estate administration
Our international team regularly advise international individuals on drawing up wills and deal with the administration of cross-border estates, and are expert on advising on international trusts and the conflict of law problems that can arise. Our probate, trust management and tax lawyers (and, in relevant cases, our property teams) work closely together to ensure that planned strategies are achieved in the most tax-efficient fashion. We can also identify opportunities for "after-death tax planning" during the administration of an estate.
Family
Our experienced family team advise on cross-border divorce, custody and pre and post-nuptial agreements. We have excellent relationships with lawyers, trustees and banks around the world which is essential if an international estate is to be managed effectively and efficiently.
