Property Department - Legal Assistant - London
The DIF Team works for a number of Developers, Investors and Lenders. The Team aims to provide a highly organised, efficient and cost effective service to our existing clients and to build on this reputation to further grow the practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key part in achieving this aim.
The role will be to assist the Team with the acquisition, financing and sale or letting of new and existing properties. To assist / deal with commercial conveyancing transactions (including assisting with the preparation of draft documentation and unit sales for residential developers).
Particular responsibilities will include:
- Arranging searches and enquiries and generally supporting the due diligence process on acquisitions and financings.
- Ensuring the smooth running of the reporting procedure for acquisitions to include liaising with other fee earners to collate reports and enquiries and assisting with the preparation of reports as appropriate.
- Submission of SDLT forms and Land Registry applications.
- The preparation of sale or letting packs for transactions.
- Overseeing the storage and safekeeping of deeds and copy documents for managed properties including arranging for documents to be stored and accessed electronically where appropriate.
Preference will be given to an ILEX qualified candidate. Willingness to learn, an aptitude for task and the ability to work in a highly organised manner utilising appropriate IT skills are essential. The role will be pressurised from time to time and candidates will need to be able to use their own initiative and be quick-thinking and flexible in their approach to their work.
We are looking for someone who will be able to deal with clients, their advisers and others, in a professional and courteous manner. This will include meeting such individuals face-to-face on occasions.
The candidate will report to a Partner in the DIF Team, working closely with his assistant. A structured programme of training will be given to support the candidate in developing the skills required for this role as necessary.
