Training at Boodle Hatfield
Trainees spend six months in up to four of the firm's main areas: Property, Corporate, Private Client & Tax and Litigation.
Boodle Hatfield is well known for the high quality of its training. All trainees are involved in client work from the start and are encouraged to handle their own files personally as soon as they are able to do so, with the appropriate supervision. Our trainees therefore have a greater degree of client contact than in many firms with the result that they should be able to take on more responsibility at an early stage. There is also a regular internal programme of seminars on a wide range of legal subjects.
Trainees are given formal appraisals every three months which are designed as a two way process and which give trainees the chance to discuss their progress and to indicate where more can be done to help in their training and development. In addition, the firm's Trainee Partner and HR Department are always available to discuss training matters and any other issues that may arise.
Social activities
Boodle Hatfield is a very friendly firm and in addition to the annual Christmas and summer parties, you are encouraged to participate in sporting activities and other social events organised in-house or with clients and other firms. We are well aware of the valuable contribution which all staff can make to strengthening client contacts and loyalties.
Staying on after qualification
Wherever possible, we recruit assistant solicitors from our own trainees. Approximately one third of our current partners were articled with the firm.
Salaries and financial assistance
Salaries are competitive with other major law firms in London. Grants are available to fund the fees for both the CPE/PgDL and the LPC. We also award maintenance grants subject to proof that you are not eligible for a Local Authority grant. Further information will be available at the interview stage.
