Our Family Team is very experienced in helping clients to deal with critical events in their lives and the legal and financial consequences.
When advising on relationship breakdown, separation, divorce and issues involving children, we provide clear objective counsel. We understand the emotional nature and destructive potential of those events for all concerned. Our clients include married couples, children and unmarried couples. We can also advise those starting new relationships on cohabitation, civil partnerships, pre-nuptial and pre-partnership agreements.
Many of our clients have international backgrounds and we have particular experience of dealing with cross-border cases.
We aim to guide clients sympathetically and discreetly through this complex and rapidly changing area of the law. By adopting a pragmatic and balanced but firm approach to negotiations, we minimise conflict and hostility.
Increasingly, negotiating the right settlement is dependent on dealing with complex issues such as splitting the family business. In order to achieve the best result it is essential to have a thorough understanding of the commercial issues, the use of trusts and the implications of various tax structures.
